Cancer pathologies

In my opinion massage is very beneficial for a cancer patient. cancer patients are going through so much trauma and stress during the whole process from when they find out they have cancer to all the medical procedures, helping a client relax and make their bodies feel better can do wonders for there whole system. I have a relative who has cancer and once her health care provider approved that I massage her, I immediately gave her a massage and it helped her sleep and relax.

Review of Mosby’s Pathology for Massage Therapists, by Salvo and Anderson.

This chapter went over the devastating cancer. It talked about how massage can be a help to cancer patients and their families. It talked about the different types of cancer and told us how color, gender, environment, etc. can affect what people will end up with cancer. Then it talked about the precautions massage therapists should take for cancer patients.

Reproductive system/STD pathologies

Pregnancy massage can help a woman so much throughout her pregnancy by relaxing her body and calming her nerves which will put less stress on the baby. Pregnancy massage is very relaxing for the mother, although you still need to be aware of the clients comfort and that you do the pregnancy massage correctly. Sexually transmitted diseases are all around us and most all of the people who have them you will never know, the most important part about massage and STD’s is that you constantly keep your hands clean and totally avoid any cuts or open wounds on a client and on your own body. As well as keeping your ethics, there would be no worries about catching any STD’s from a client or giving them to a client because a proper massage has nothing to do with the genital area.

Reproductive conditions

Review of Mosby’s Pathology for Massage Therapists, by Salvo and Anderson.

This chapter reviewed about women and their reproductive system. How their menstrual comes around and how a baby grows in the body. It goes over how they come out. Then it talks about the possible problems women may have with reproduction and if they get certain STDs.

Urinary pathologies

Many urinary problems are serious organ problems where massage would not be beneficial to the client at all because it could make their condition worse. Clearing everything with a health care provider is always the best idea. After clearing with a health care provider and massage is not contraindicated than you can be helping the client out a lot by just relaxing them from the stress their body is dealing with.
