Review of Mosby’s Pathology for Massage Therapists, by Salvo and Anderson. Under the class of Dr. Johnson.
In chapter 2 it discusses client assessment and intake forms. It is very important to have intake forms however clients don’t always write all of their important health information. So it is very important to verbally ask health questions. I have experienced a client who had severe poor circulation on his feet and lower legs due to diabetes which were a bluish/purple color yet he failed to mention it when asked about his health. I was not informed of it until I uncovered his leg and noticed the change of color. I ended up avoiding the whole bottom leg region and massaged with very light pressure. So good communication with the client is very important.
